Privacy Policy
Last updated September 26, 2026
This policy explains what ClipInsight collects, why, who processes it, and what you can do about it. It covers clipinsight.com and the ClipInsight browser extension. See also the Terms of Service.
What we collect
- Account: your email address, and your plan. If you sign in with Google, the email Google shares with us.
- Waitlist: the email you enter to join the waitlist.
- Clips: the links you save, any note you add, and the content we fetch for them: title, author, thumbnail, transcript or text, and language.
- Browser captures: when you save a post with the extension, the text, author details and image links it reads from that page. It reads the page only when you click Save.
- Generated data: AI summaries, tags and titles, and embeddings (numeric representations of text used for search).
- Preferences: your language and summary format.
- Search queries you type, to find matching clips. We don't keep a search history.
- Internet address: when you submit the waitlist form, your IP address is held in server memory for about a minute to stop abuse of the form. It isn't written to our database. Our host's standard server logs may also record IP addresses.
We don't use advertising or analytics trackers. The only cookies are the sign-in cookies that keep you logged in. The extension reads only those ClipInsight cookies, so it can save clips to your account without a separate login.
What's public
Clip pages are public: anyone with a clip's link can see its title, source, thumbnail, tags and transcript or text. Your email, notes and AI summaries are not shown on public pages. Summaries are visible only to you.
How we use it
- to run the service: fetch and transcribe content, summarize it, and make it searchable;
- to sign you in and enforce plan limits;
- to find and fix errors;
- to contact you about your account or the beta.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use your clips to train AI models.
Who processes it
These providers process data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the service:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and file storage for accounts, clips, transcripts, summaries and search data. |
| OpenAI | Turns clip text and search queries into embeddings for search. |
| Anthropic | Writes summaries, tags and titles from clip text. |
| Groq | Transcribes audio for videos without captions. |
| Sentry | Error reports. Configured not to collect cookies, request bodies, IP headers or AI inputs and outputs; reports can include your account ID. |
| Only if you choose to sign in with Google. | |
| Knownhost | Hosts the web app and background workers. |
How long we keep it
We keep your account and clips until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Deleting a clip removes it and its summary, tags and capture from your account. The fetched content for a link can be shared by everyone who clipped it, so it may remain while other members still have that clip.
Your choices
- Delete any clip from My Clips or the clip page.
- Change your language and summary format in Settings.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account by contacting legal@clipinsight.com (placeholder, not yet monitored).
Changes and contact
